UCS 0 Baillieston Villa 3

The Bankies crashed yet agian in this league cup tie which was switched to Renton after Faifley became unplayable due to the midweek rain.

The team was shuffled about a bit in a bid to get everyone match fit. The opening stages were scrappy with Baillieston looking the more likely to score and after half an hour they did when the striker was played in the left channel to knock the ball by Joey Muir.

Minutes later it was 2-0 when the defence failed to deal with a long ball and the striker beat the helpless Muir from around 22 yards.

McInally, McNeil and Ross Cummings all had half chances to get back in the game but the keeper wasn't really tested.

The second half saw Bankies press more without testing the keeper much. Harkin had the best chance with a free header but failed to connect properly.

At the other end Muir hardly had a save to make but the visitors wrapped up the win with 22 minutes left. A soft free kick deflected off the wall and spun by Muir who again could do nothing to prevent the ball from going in.

Top scorer McInally had a great chance to pull one back from the spot after Mooney was upended but the striker's tame effort down the middle left the keeper wondering if he could pick up a pass back.

Bankies are away to Olympique Energetik this Saturday on league business.
