Clyde Valley Rovers 3 UCS 1

This may have been another defeat for the Bankies - but it wasa much better performance filled with fight and determination against opponents from the division above who had won so easily at Mountblow in September by six goals to nil.

Both sides opened upt he first half looking to attack and Bankies coped well playing ointo a strong wind.

The best chance of the half fell to Kevin Brodie but his effort went wide after Mark Connelly had split open the Rovers defence to put him one on one

The home side had a few efforts but none that worked Joey Muir in the Bankies goal in what is expected to be his final appearance.

The back 3 of Hussey, Duncanson and Kilkenny were solid with Steven and O'Brien defending them well just in front.

The home side go the break right on half time with an effort from the edge of the box which went in off the underside of the bar - harsh on the Bankies who had coped so well.

The second half started and again Bankies had chances - trialist sub Russell Eldred who had replaced Brodie coming close as did captain for the night McInally. Mooney also replaced the tiring Stuart Graham.

As Bankies legs were tiring Rovers grabbed a second on the hour - again this was harsh on the Bankies who had been caught on the break. The second goal allowed the home side a bit of breathing space.

Tosh Edmonds then replaced Davey Steven.

Still Bankies tried to get back into it but couldn't break down the experienced CVR who added a third with ten minutes remaining with a delightful solo effort, although cheap in the eyes of the defending team.

Bankies got one back in the last minute. a long Connelly throw was touched on by Eldred and appeared to hit a Rovers hand before going into the net. As Bankies lined up to take a penalty it became apparent that the referee was actually signalling for a Bankies goal!

At that, the game was over but a few more performances like this and Bankies will soon have points on the table.
