UCS 0 Clyde Valley Rovers 6

UCS played their opening league cup game against first division Clyde Valley Rovers.

The Bankies opened well and created two good chances in a comfortable opening 15 minutes. Bankies then had a horror 25-minute spell when conceding 4 dismally shocking goals. First Steven dropped a deep cross at the strikers feet before letting a free kick deceive him. A defensive error from Kidd allowed a third before poor marking at a corner caused the fourth.

McIinally had a good chance after fine play from Gillan found him at the back post but his first touch allowed the ball to run away and the chance was gone. Harsh words were had at half time and the second half saw much improvement.

McInally had an effort saved by the keeper then McNeil saw a long range effort fly over. Brodie was replaced by Cummings after picking up an injury. Rovers added a fifth when the winger skipped by two challenges on the byeline and squared for the attacker to net with ease.

Steven's night of misery was complete when he gave away a penalty which was converted for the sixth and final goal. McGarvey and Graham replaced Harkin and Mooney to see out the final minutes of the match.

All in all, a dismal night and many lessons have to be learned quickly from this showing. A quick chance to get it out of the system with a trip to Paisley to take on Gryffe at the Racecourse Grounds, 9.30 ko.
