Gryffe 6 UCS 1

A much improved performance from Thursday but still 6 stupid goals conceded once again.

UCS seemed happy playing on the narrower of pitches at The Racecourse and competed well early on.

Chances were at a premium in the early stages but a a Hussey clearance was charged down and the striker bore down on goal to round Steven for the first goal.

A long ball caught out the defence for the second and as Steven raced out the striker dinked the ball over him to make it two.

Bankies had half chances at the other end but failed to work the home keeper. It was soon three nil. Gryffe striker hit a shot that was going for a throw in until it cannoned off Jamie Duncanson and into the net.

Colin McInally hit the bar at the end of the half.

Bankies imposed a bit for the first ten minutes of the half. The defence were caught napping again though and a tap in was no.4 for the home side.

Dunbar replaced Steven and Fraser Urquhart came on for Ross Cummings. Fraser injected a bit of spark for the Bankies attack but still a goal was elusive, McInally again coming close.

A free header from a corner gave Gryffe their fifth before Dunbar was rounded for the sixth. Harkin was replaced by Hotchkiss. Gryffe had more chances to score although the gulf in play wasn't much.

Bankies lack a bit of dig and guile and hopefully that will come as the players get to know each other over the coming season.

Mcinally pulled one back from the penalty spot when Mooney was pulled back from getting on the end of an Urquhart cross with a few minutes left.

More lessons to be learned quickly for the new Bankies supporters team.
