UCS 1 Hampden 4

The UCS Bankies Supporters team played their first ever league match at Faifley against Hampden on Saturday morning and crashed to a 4-1 defeat.

The Bankies took the lead 15 minutes in when Stephen Kilkenny headed home a Gillan corner at the near post. Kilkenny was involved in all the action when he deflected a long range effort past Davey Steven to level the scores ten minutes before half time before sustaining a bad cut above the eye in a head clash.

The second half was rather even for the first fifteen minutes before Hampden's superior fitness and understanding began to show when they took the lead on 65 minutes. Bankies pushed another up front in a bid to get back into the game but Hampden hit on the break for a 3-1 lead.

McInally, Fraser Urquhart and Ross Cummings all had chances to pull the scoreline back but failed to convert and Hampden wrapped it up with a clinical fourth goal at the death.

Bankies host CVR in the league cup at Mountblow on Thursday before travelling to take on Gryffe in the league this Saturday.
