Laurel Park 7 UCS 2

For the first 20 minutes, UCS seemed intent on making a game of this - taking the lead and playing some nice football. After 35 minutes there was only going to be one winner and it was the hosts.

After Wednesday's win, there was a few changes with only 15 available and McInally was deployed to play up front on his own.

Bankies took the midfield early doors with Davie McNeil impressive in spraying the ball about while Kidd and Mooney were getting joy on the wings.

McInally and Mooney combined well with the formers tame shot not really troubling the keeper.

It was Mooney who ran onto a McNeil pass on the left and cut inside his man before his shsot took a slight deflection past the keeper for Bankies to take the lead.

On 23 minutes the hosts levelled and two minutes later they scored a second. On 30 minutes the hosts added another and grabbed a fourth 4 minutes after that.

Neither goal was sublime and all moves should have been defended better.

McNeil picked up a knock and dropped to sweeper.

At half time Muir and Fraser Urquhart replaced McInally and Biggar before Graham replaced Junior Urquhart and Cummings came on for the injured McNeil.

Bankies had few oportunities to get back in the game but they did keep Laurel Park at bay until they scored with a well struck free kick.

A disputed effort added to the score before Muir and Urquhart missed chances. Urquhart did pull one back and Graham could have bagged another but it wasn't to be and the home side grabbed a 7th before full time.

McInally, Biggar and Urquhart were reintroduced as the game fizzed out.

A disappointing defeat in what promised to be a good game early doors.

The gaffer can only hope for a full squad and some improved defending for Wednesday's League Cup clash.
